Screaming Javelinas Music
Desert soul rock
Meet Claude Mattox
Claude Mattox is a lifelong musician who’s been playing music since he was 12—first in garage bands inspired by the Beach Boys and British Invasion, and now with the Screamin’ Javelinas, his high-energy, good-vibes rock band. Whether on 6 or 12-string acoustic, electric guitar, bass, harmonica, or percussion, Claude brings decades of heart and stage experience to every performance.
Based in Phoenix since 1979, Claude has been performing across Arizona since 1997. He’s played venues like Desert Sky Pavilion (Talking Stick Resort Amphitheater), Hard Rock Café Phoenix, US Airways Center (Footprint Center), State Farm Stadium, Tempe Town Lake, the Arizona Irish Faire, and even the Arizona, Las Vegas, and San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathons.
Claude and the Screamin’ Javelinas have opened for the Goo Goo Dolls, Gin Blossoms, Lee Greenwood, and performed live with Roger Clyne. Claude also wrote the official song of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon—“Arizona is a Rock and Roll Marathon.”
Unfortunately the Screamin' Javelinas disbanded after a great 20 year run. Claude is still making music playing solo and duo gigs and sitting in with local bands around the valley and state.
